Angelic is a type of marine fish of a family called Pomacanthidae, and it is found frequently on the tropical coral shores of the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and on the western shores of the Pacific Ocean, this family contains approximately 86 species, distributed into seven varieties: Apolemichthys Centropyge Chaetodontoplus Genicanthus Holacanthus Pomacanthus Pygoplites With their bright colors and compressed bodies laterally, these fish appear to be the most prominent among the inhabitants of the coral reefs, and they are very similar to the butterfly fish, but they are distinguished from the butterfly fish by the presence of a strong, pointed bone between the cheek and the gill cover called Preopercle, this distinction in shape is what gave it the name Pomacanthidae It is a Greek name, so the word Poma means cover, and Akantha means thorn. Many marine angel fish have a striped extension on their dorsal and anal fins, and they have small mouths, and they have relatively large pectoral fins. The largest of these fish, such as the gray angelfish, can reach Their length reaches 60 cm, while the small species may not exceed 15 cm, and the average size is between 20 to 30 cm for the rest of the family. General shape of marine angel fish The larger species are often bold, and less fearful than the small ones, and while most of them adapt to the lives of families, some of them are difficult to satisfy, especially in terms of the difficulty of feeding and the difficulty of caring for them. The behavior of these fish in food can be defined according to their varieties. Zooplankton, a microorganism that floats in ocean waters, and Centropyge species prefer Filamentous algae, and other species focus on sponges and tangle hydrates. Most of the marine angel fish are restricted to swimming in shallow places of coral beaches, but some of them may risk diving to depths of up to 50 meters, and they are diurnal fish that hide between the corners and crevices of coral reefs at night, some species swim solo, and some may form pairs, Or one male can dominate a number of females. The change of color during the growth stage is related to maturity or adulthood. Many species of this family change color dramatically from one stage to another as long as they are in the process of development until they take their full shape and colors as an adult fish. Food: We cannot keep many species of marine angel fish in our ponds, and one of the main reasons is the issue of nutrition, as many species are prepared to feed on coral reefs, or on sea fountains, so they do not accept any other type of food. The most famous example is the rock beauty coral fish, and of course there are many other examples. Therefore, it is easier to keep species that are well adapted to food in captivity than those who are not able to do so, and even these people need more than just a tank and some food is provided to them. Dried foods specially prepared for sea angels will help a lot in satisfying these fish, but there is Also frozen foods, which were specially prepared to suit the nature of the food that these fish are accustomed to, and these types have become available in most fish stores, most of the marine angel fish feed in nature on some types of algae, coral sprouts, and various types of sponges, so the frozen foods Dedicated to angels will contain a little bit of each in their composition. Not only do these foods help keep your fish healthy, but they also help them retain their color well. If your fish's colors seem to have faded a little while in your aquarium, study your food more closely.
